The Ladder Climb
Rules:
1. You must remain on TOP of the ladder at all times
2. Hands and feet ONLY no elbows knees or laying down
3. You may use the mat to get on the ladder, but both hands and feet on the ladder is a turn. Touching the mat after this will end your turn
4. At cedar point, the third bar from the top was painted red, you need both feet ON this bar when you press the buzzer.
5. I did not allow people to put their feet on the ropes, and, frankly, it is easier to climb with your feet on the bars.
Best Strategy:
1. To begin place hands and feet on the bars in the corners in the following order:
a) Place your right hand on the THIRD bar.
b) Put your left foot on the FIRST bar.
c) Put your left hand on the FOURTH bar.
d) Put your right foot on the SECOND bar.
2. Do not put two hands or feet on the same bar at the same time. There are two reasons for this, as you can see, when you begin this way, your right hand balances with your left foot, and vice versa. Putting two hands or feet on a single bar will inevitably disturb the balance, as soon as you take your foot or hand off, you will topple over. The second reason is that if you two limbs are on the same bar at the same time, most people will get the order mixed up when they step off (right hand and right foot have one rung between them), this puts all your weight on one side, and you will fall.
3. Move your hands first, then you will be able to use your hands to balance your feet as you climb. In addition to this, PUT WEIGHT ON YOUR HANDS. :)
4. While I've seen people win going fast and slow, it is usually slightly easier to go fast
Things to watch out for:
1. It is generally easy to get up the first four rungs, because your weight will push the ladder against the mat, which adds stability to your climb, as soon as the rungs no longer touch the mat, you will have to rely on your balance!
2. The tighter the ladder the harder to climb. Over the course of the day, the ladders loosen with use, then are tightened by the game host. Look for the loosest ladder, and if there is no slack in the ladder, wait a bit for them to loosen.
